On January 14, the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan held a large meeting presided over by President Ilham Aliyev and dedicated to the socio-economic outcomes of 2010, APA reported. President Ilham Aliyev delivered an extended speech at the meeting.
Touching upon Nagorno-Karabakh conflict the president noted with regret the non-resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict over the passed period: “Unfortunately, in 2010 we didn’t have any progress in Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. It has only one reason. The Armenian side tries to break the negotiations. Armenia wants to drag out the time by returning to the issues that were previously agreed at the bargaining table”.
We have repeatedly stated that Nagorno-Karabakh is the native land of Azerbaijan, and it’s acknowledged by the international community as Azerbaijani land. Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity is entirely recognized by international community, the UN recognizes it, and all international organizations respect our territorial integrity. Azerbaijan will never once again allow establishment of the second Armenian state on its historical lands. I can say that, in 2010, the most important events, related to this issue, occurred in international organizations. The European Parliament passed very fair resolution regarding the Armenian-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. This issue is discussed in other international organizations, and they support our position. The NATO summit adopted regarding this issue very valuable and fair resolution that supports Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity. Yesterday, at the press conference, held together with the president of the European Commission Mr. Barroso, the position of the European Commission and the European Union was expressed. It means that the European Union supports the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
On the other hand, it is not a secret that besides the negotiations, we simultaneously pay special attention to creature of the army, we strengthen our army. In this field we have achieved the great successes. Our enemy knows it and trembles with fear. Their latest hysterical, nervous, and horror-stricken statements prove it. They know well that Azerbaijani army can inflict a crushing blow on the enemy at any moment. As a result of this crushing blow the situation can develop in other directions not only in Nagorno-Karabakh but also in Armenia.
In 2011 the military and defense expenditures will be more than $ 3 billion. A large portion of this money will be again spent for purchasing arms, military equipment, and we’ll continue this process in the future. I am confident that Azerbaijan’s strong army has to say its final word in the Armenian-Azerbaijani, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and it’ll do it when the time comes".
