New US ambassador to Ankara will be in the capital today.
Francis Joseph Ricciardone knows a lot about Turkey and he can speak Turkish.
Previously, Ricciardone worked as a political advisor to Turkish and American commanders at Incirlik military base as part of the "Operation Provide Comfort", served as Deputy Ambassador and charge d'affaires.
On December 30, US President Barack Obama appointed Ricciardone as ambassador to Turkey.
However, Ricciardone had to wait a long time to begin his duty in Ankara due to delayed approval of the US Senate.
In his previous position, Ricciardone worked at the US embassy in Afghanistan.
