PACE subcommittee cannot play a role ion the Karabakh conflict settlement.

“The PACE (Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe) subcommittee on Nagorno Karabakh cannot play a role in the settlement of the Karabakh issue, Secretary of the Republican faction Edward Sharmazanov told a press conference today.

”Although PACE President Mevlut Cavusoglu managed to restore the activity of the subcommittee on Nagorno Karabakh, it can never play a role in the settlement of the Karabakh conflict, since the Armenian side has mentioned many times that there can be no format of negotiations outside the OSCE Minsk Group,” Sharmazanov said.

According to him, the positon of the Armenian side on the issue is distinct: Turkey can never act as mediator in the settlement of the Karabakh conflict, and all its efforts are doomed to failure.

”Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh will never allow it,” Sharmazanov stated. “Turkey’s policy derives from Davutoglu’s theory of Neo-Ottomanism. The results of Neo-Ottomanism are known to the world, this policy can have no future,” he said.
