February Declared 'Month Of Khojaly' In Ukraine

February was declared the 'Month of Khojaly' in Ukraine.

On the joint initiative of the Islamic Conference Youth Forum, Ukrainian Azerbaijani Youth Union and All-Ukraine Youth Assembly and with the support of the Azerbaijani embassy in Ukraine, February was declared the 'Month of Khojaly' in Ukraine, sources at the Ukrainian Azerbaijani Youth Union reported.

The Union’s board of directors held an extraordinary meeting and approved the plan of events to be organized in the regions and cities of Ukraine for paying tribute to the victims of Khojaly genocide.

Chairman of the Ukrainian Azerbaijani Youth Union Anar Tahirov spoke about the importance of the events held throughout the world within the framework of the 'Justice for Khojaly' campaign started in 2008 on the initiative of Senior Coordinator of the Islamic Conference Youth Forum for Dialogue and Cooperation Leila Aliyeva.

Tahirov said Khojaly events were one of the severe tragedies of 20th century. Local youth organizations of Ukraine will also join the events to be held within the 'Justice for Khojaly' campaign and beginning from February 10, series of events will be organized in the regions and cities of Ukraine.

The Islamic Conference Youth Forum, Ukrainian Azerbaijani Youth Union and All-Ukraine Youth Assembly put forward an initiative to collect signatures in the central squares in Nikolayev, Simferopol, Donetsk, Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov and Kiev. The young people from a number of Ukrainian cities will organize auto-rally to Kiev on February 26 with the slogan 'Justice for Khojaly'. Participants of the rally will hold protest actions in front of the Armenian embassy, OSCE and UN offices in Ukraine and will present resolutions to these organizations.
