American Azerbaijanis and Turks have started a new campaign by sending letters to the US Administration, including President Barack Obama, vice-president Joe Biden, secretary of state Hilary Clinton, as well as US Congressmen and Senators, due to recognize and commemorate the Khojaly Massacre of 1992, APA reported.
Both Azerbaijani and Turkic-Americans also request to call for justice to the victims and the perpetrators of this war crime.
“On February 26, 2011, Azerbaijani- and Turkic-Americans will mark the 19th anniversary of the massacre committed by the Armenian forces during the occupation of the town of Khojaly, in the course of 1991-1994 Nagorno-Karabakh War. According to the Human Rights Watch, 613 Azerbaijani civilians including 106 women and 83 children were massacred with varying degrees of brutality by the occupying forces. The perpetrators of this crime preceding Srebrenica massacre were never investigated or brought to justice”, says the letter.
