The Conference of the Turkish and Azerbaijani students in France was held in Strasbourg.
Turkish Samanyolu said Azerbaijan’s permanent representative in the Council of Europe Arif Mammadov spoke at the event.
In his speech Mammadov familiarized the students with the Azerbaijani policy in the region, implementation of energy projects, as well as the situation in Karabakh conflict.
The diplomat said the Caspian region plays an important strategic role in world policy and in this view Azerbaijan’s role is growing.
He also said Azerbaijan is playing an important role in implementation of the Nabucco project.
He said the implementation of energy projects has turned Turkey into an important transit country commenting on the Caspian Sea with Europe.
All the same the envoy said the Azerbaijani president attaches special importance to developing the nonoil sector.
Speaking about the Karabakh conflict, the envoy accused Armenia of destructive position: “Every time when the parties come closer to solving problems, Armenia frustrates the negotiations. Azerbaijan demands the only thing, it wants the execution of the UN resolution and withdrawal of Armenia from the occupied lands. It is not an honor for any country to have a label of an occupant in the 21st century”, he said.
