Feb. 25, the German city of Dresden will host an event dedicated to the 19th anniversary of the Khojaly tragedy.
The event, to be organized by Alm.Az Society, operating in Dresden, will be attended by representatives of the intelligentsia of Germany, members of the community and representatives of political parties.
The event will be attended by the department head of Dresden city mayor's office Sabina Mammadova, members of city duma Azad Mammadov, Herman Levenfussuna, deputy director of the Dresden library Danuta Shprigman, as well as representatives of Jewish and Russian communities.
The event will demonstrate the documentary "Xocalı həqiqətləri" ("The Truth about Khojaly") and a clip "Justige for Khojaly", taken with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. During the event, an appeal will be adopted to the Government of Germany in connection with Khojaly genocide.
The Armenian military forces committed genocide in Khojaly on Feb. 26, 1992. More than 600 people were killed, including 63 children, 106 women and 70 old men. A total of 1,000 civilians were disabled during the genocide. Eight families were annihilated, 130 children lost one parent, and 25 lost both. Additionally, 1,275 peaceful residents were taken hostage, while the fate of 150 remains unknown.
