“No Symptoms Of New War In Karabakh”

E-mail Print PDF

A new war in Karabakh conflict area is ruled out, Iran’s ambassador in Armenia Seyed Ali Saghaeyan told reporters.

He said there are no symptoms of new war, and such regional powers as Russia, Iran, Turkey, as well as the OSCE Minsk Group members will not allow such a script. “I think the region will not stand war between Armenia and Azerbaijan or between Karabakh and Azerbaijan”, the ambassador said.

The envoy recalled the statements of the Iranian president during his visit to Baku and Istambul that all conflicts including Karabakh must be settled peacefully and Iran should do everything possible to assist in this issue.

As for the principle of territorial integrity and rights of nations for self-determination, the Iranian envoy said despite international experts speak of the equality of these two principles, he believes the status of human rights is especially important. “The human rights should not be ignored along with the right to decide about his fate. Thanks to this, the people of South Sudan held a referendum and defined their fate”, he said.
