Karabakh should be engaged in direct talk with PACE, expert says.
Armenia should not be afraid of restoration of the subcommittee on Karabakh at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), according to chairman of European Integration NGO.
“Armenia, as a full member of the CoE can take action to engage representatives of Nagorno Karabakh into the work of the committee,” Karen Bekaryan told a news conference in Yerevan.
He reminded that the Assembly once used to work with representatives of then-unrecognized Kosovo, Montenegro and Chechnya.
Recent events in Tunisia, Egypt and Middle East will influence the course of Karabakh conflict settlement, according to European Integration NGO chairman.
As Karen Bekaryan told a news conference in Yerevan, the South Sudan referendum, change of power in Egypt, riots in Yemen and Bahrain, tensions between Azerbaijan and Israel are background events, which, although indirectly, affect the logic of Karabakh process.
“The events mentioned divert the attention of superpowers, pushing many issues, including Karabakh conflict, to the background,” Bekaryan said.
