Russia confirmed its initiative to play the leading role in constructing a new nuclear power station in Armenia in particular Russia is prepared to construct and finance a so called nuclear island for the energy block.
As Armenian energy minister Armen Movsisian thinks that the Russian designed and constructed nuclear reactors are the best in the world. Movsisian mentioned that the new plant will be launched in 2016-17 and the existing block will be working until this period of time.
As it is known, Russia and Armenia agreed on the construction of the nuclear power station during the Russian President’s visit to Yerevan last August.
USA has also expressed its interest in the participation of American companies in constructing Armenia's nuclear power station.
