Azerbaijani embassy in the United Mexican States and Mexican-Azerbaijani Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group held an event hosted by the Mexican Congress and dedicated to the anniversary of Khojaly genocide.
The ambassador noted that genocide in Khojaly is horrible attack and one of the inhuman and cruel crimes committed by Armenia against the Azerbaijani people. He spoke about the occupation of Azerbaijani lands, including Zangezur territories and informed the participants about the religious and ethnic tolerance in Azerbaijan, as well as criminal actions of Armenia against the cultural heritage of Azerbaijani people and destruction of mosques and other religious and cultural monuments in the occupied territories. At the same time, the meeting participants were also informed about the www.justiciaparajodyali.org Internet page prepared by the Azerbaijani embassy in Mexico in Spanish.
Azerbaijani history, economy and general development directions were also on agenda during the presentation. Member of the Mexican parliament, chairman of the Mexican-Azerbaijani Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group Marcos Peres thanked the Ambassador for detailed information about Azerbaijan, as well as about the Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan and tragic events in Khojaly. He said he would support the work to deliver information about the Khojaly events to Mexican community.
Other members of the Mexican-Azerbaijani Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group also delivered speeches at the event and emphasized that the horrible pictures demonstrated there showed actions, which were severe violation of human rights. The speakers said aggression had no border and nationality and the international community, including the Mexican Congress must unite their efforts to stop the violation of human rights and other crimes against the humanity.
Foreign diplomats accredited in Mexico, members of the Mexican Congress and media representatives attended the event.
Series of events within the international campaign “Justice for Khojaly” will be continued to inform the Mexican community about the Khojaly tragedy.
