Polukhov: Occupation Of Azerbaijani Territories is Unquestionable Fact

E-mail Print PDF

“Making provocative statements is a part of policy pursued by Armenia and that is why they take positions in connection with different issues before the Sochi meeting”, Spokesman for Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Elkhan Polukhov told while taking stance on Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian’s statement in Vienna, which accused Azerbaijan of failing to express position on the Madrid principles and wanting war.

“Though Armenian Foreign Minister repeated the same opinions thousand times, occupation of Azerbaijani territories is unquestionable fact. When territory of one sovereign state is occupied by another sovereign state, then each sovereign state may liberate its lands by using mechanisms of all international legislation”.

The diplomat reminded that today Azerbaijan participated in the negations process: “Azerbaijan supports the peaceful solution to the conflict, but we are not intending to conduct negations only for the sake of talk. As to negotiating point, as you know, there are updated Madrid proposals in front of the sides. This document was prepared by the participation of 3 co-chairing countries. Along with this document, the statements made by heads of the co-chairing countries in L’aquila and Muskoka form the basis of the negotiations. Azerbaijan has taken stance on all issues, but, unfortunately, Armenia had not taken stance on all issues yet”.
