Progovernmental mass media of Armenia are ordered to start propaganda against US ambassador
According to Aykakan zhamanak newspaper, the progovernmental mass media of Armenia are ordered to start propaganda against US ambassador Mari Jovanovic with the attempt to accuse the ambassador of the attempt to interfere with the interior affairs of Armenia.
The reason is the well-known speech of Mari Jovanovic on 28 February at the Yerevan State University of the need to form the civil public in Armenia.
Jovanovic’s response came soon. Yesterday she gave an interview to Azatutyun radio saying: “Civil rights are given to the people of Armenia by the Armenian Constitution. It clearly fixes the freedom of assembly, freedom of press and power of law. I think these rights of the people of Armenia, fixed in the Constitution, are important values”
Her statement that the ‘government is created for people and not otherwise’ does not need comment, the newspaper notes.
