“Between February 25-26, 1992, hundreds of innocent civilians were killed in what’s known as the Khojaly Tragedy”, US Congresswoman Sue Wilkins Myrick from North Caroline, said in her address to the Speaker of the House yesterday, APA reported.

Following her colleagues, Congresswoman Myrick also raised in Congress the issue of the recognition of a tragedy that occurred 19 years ago in Azerbaijan.

“Between February 25-26, 1992, hundreds of innocent civilians were killed in what’s known as the Khojaly Tragedy. During this tragedy, ``..... it is widely accepted that 200 Azeris were murdered, as many as 500-1,000 may have died,’’ according to a report released by Human Rights Watch in 1993”, the Congresswoman said.

“We grieve with its people as we remember the victims of the Khojaly Tragedy”, she added.
