Armenian expert comments on presidents' meeting.

The joint statement of the presidents of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia, adopted by results of the meeting in Sochi on Saturday, is a sort of a nonaggression pact, considers director of the Caucasus Institute, political scientist Alexander Isgandaryan.

He said this is a serious achievement.

“Another matter is whether it will be observed and how the events will further develop on the contact line”, the expert told reporters.

The presidents of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan passed a joint statement on Nagorno Karabakh settlement by results of negotiations.

According to the document, the leaders considered issues of practical implementation of the trilateral statement, they adopted during the last meeting in Astrakhan on 27 October 2010. In particular, the presidents agreed to exchange war prisoners as soon as possible.

“The presidents stressed importance of their regular contacts on the issues of Nagorno Karabakh settlement and agreed to continue them in such a format in addition to the activity of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs”, the statement says.
