“20% of Azerbaijani lands are under occupation, which is unacceptable”, Turkish ambassador in US Namik Tan said while speaking at John Hopkins University.

According to the Voice of America, the diplomat said the conflict influences the overall situation in the region and hampers the country's efforts for progress.

"We support the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group. The countries of the Minsk Group, seriously dealing with this issue (the conflict settlement). Last week, the assistant of the Turkish Foreign minister was in Washington where he discussed that question. I believe this conflict can be settled soon”, he said.

The Turkish ambassador also touched upon the Armenian-Turkish relations and stressed that the resolution of the problems between the two countries can be facilitated after the Karabakh conflict is settled.

“These issues are connected with each other. Our efforts in settling problems with Armenia will also be facilitated after the solution to the conflict is found”, he said.
