E-mail Print PDF

President of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso stated that the status quo “is not an option” for the resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and it must be settled in a peaceful way on the basis of the principles of non-use of force, territorial integrity and the self-determination of peoples.

President of the European Commission said this after the meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsian in Brussels, March 15.

“We remain seriously concerned about continuing armed incidents at the line of contact in Nagorno-Karabakh and the ongoing militarization in the region,” Jose Manuel Barroso said.

The head of the European Commission said that “the European Union continues to support the Armenian-Turkish normalization strongly.”

“We encourage both countries to stay committed to this historical process. I am confident that there will be new possibilities for dialogue in the future,” Jose Manuel Barroso said.
