The European Parliament is ready to assist in providing security in the area of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, said chairman of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek at a briefing after a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan.
According to Buzek, the ratification of protocols on the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations is extremely important.
At the same time, he thanked Armenia for membership in Euronest.
"Today we follow the right path, and the first meeting will be held in the Council of Europe in May. I hope we will meet again in May in Yerevan, and that meeting will give an opportunity to discuss issues related to your region", said the chairman of the European Parliament.
The Armenian prime minister noted that during the meeting the sides discussed all issues on the agenda of cooperation with the EU. Sargsyan expressed confidence that these meetings and assistance to Armenia will give a new impetus to the reform program of the government, primarily economic and democratic reforms.
Turning to the issue of relations with Turkey, he noted that Armenia's position on this issue has always been clear and Armenia was ready for normalizing ties without preconditions.
"Our position is also clear in the settlement of the Karabakh conflict - a peaceful solution has no alternative. The work of OSCE Minsk Group, in our opinion, continues in the right direction. In the issue of Euronest our position is clear as well. We are interested in seeing that this structure was attained and we are confident that it stimulates the reforms on European integration and its process”, Sargsyan said.
The prime minister thanked the European Parliament for support to the Government in implementing reforms.
