Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received OSCE chairman-in-office, Foreign Minister of Lithuania Audronius Ažubalis.
President Sargsyan first congratulated Lithuania on assuming the OSCE Chairmanship and underlined that cooperation within the framework of the OSCE was very important to Armenia.
During the meeting reference was made to the OSCE support to the democratic reforms under way in our country and the process of settlement of the Karabakh issue within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group. In that context the parties positively assessed the results of the trilateral meeting in Sochi.
The OSCE Chairperson noted that it was necessary to move forward and continue the talks from that positive starting point.
On 18 March leader of Karabakh separatists Bako Sahakyan met in Yerevan the OSCE chairman-in-office, foreign minister of Lithuania Audronius Ažubalis.
Issues related to the Karabakh conflict settlement and regional processes were discussed during the meeting.
Sahakyan introduced the position of the official Khankedi on the conflict settlement, underlining that the Azerbaijan-Karabakh relations should be settled by peaceful means and through direct dialogue.
In this context Bako Sahakyan noted the necessity of restoring the full-fledged negotiation format with the direct participation of Karabakh considering it among the pivotal components of the conflict settlement process.
Sahakyan also noted that the OSCE should pay more serious attention to destructive and anti-Armenian policy of Azerbaijan, which to a great extent hinders both the conflict settlement and the formation of mutual trust atmosphere in the region.
Both sides noted that the Minsk Group was the most efficient platform for the conflict settlement and any attempts to transfer it into other instances would only harm the process.
