It would be better if Armenia and Turkey achive progress in normalization process and ratify the signed protocols, U.S. envoy told journalists on Wednesday.

U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Marie Yovanovitch noted U.S. encourages the sides to achieving progress. However, it has not happened yet and the work is underway. Different programs, including student trips, are carried out to improve relations between the nations. Personal contacts are established for people to know each other better. This contributes to convergence and mutual understanding between the nations, she added.

In October 2009 Armenia and Turkey signed protocols in Zurich to normalize diplomatic relations between the states. The documents had to be ratified in both countries’ parliaments.
