Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received Monday the newly appointed Swedish Ambassador to Armenia, Diana Jansen (residence: Tbilisi), who submitted her credential to the Armenian leader, Tert.am reported refering Armenian presidential press service.

The president congratulated the diplomat on taking new office, wishing her success during her tenure.

The parties considered possibilities of developing bilateral cooperation within different formats, and discussed, among other things, the Armenian-Turkish rapprochement and the Karabakh conflict settlement process.

According to the report of Tert.am, Sargsyan thanked Swedish government for recognizing so called Armenian genocide. On the other hand, “We do not live with the past, and our initiative to establish ties with Turkey was a fair example of that," the  Sargsyan said.

"But that doesn't mean the “genocide” recognition issue can ever acquire a secondary importance for us," he added.
