Russian has recently become more active in the Karabakh issue. It has assumed a new strategy of achieving a tangible result following every meeting of the Presidents, even if a very small one, Jamalyan said.
According to him, it’s a small victory for Russian diplomacy. From the point of view of the Armenian side, the Russian initiatives are beneficial to us, since Armenia is in no way interested in creating tension at the line of contact.
According to him, the opinion of Azerbaijan is completely different. Relieving of tension at the line of contact does not benefit the Azerbaijani side. "This is the reason why Azerbaijan participates in the exchange of prisoners on one hand and prevents the joint investigation into the border incidents on the other hand. Besides, the Azeri side is trying to frustrate the agreements so as to be able to blame the Armenian side."
Accosting to David Jamalyan, there are two reasons why Azerbaijan wants to create tension at the line of contact. “First of all, we all know that Azerbaijani is preparing for war, and tension at the contact line will help prepare the society psychologically. Besides, Azerbaijan is trying to present its non-democratic condition as a result of existence of the Karabakh conflict.” However, according to the psychologist, Aliyev is not original here, since the precedent exists in the Arab world.
