Consul General of Azerbaijan in the Turkish city of Kars Aykhan Suleimanov visited the monument to victims of the Armenian terrorism in Igdir.
In his remarks to the commemorative event, the consul general said Azerbaijanis and Turks have been slaughtered and uprooted from their lands by Armenians on many occasions throughout the twentieth century.
"All atrocities committed by Armenian criminals are supported by facts. The mass graves of Turks and Azerbaijanis who died at the hands of the Armenians in the territory of Turkey and Azerbaijan clearly indicate that these terrible crimes did take place," the diplomat said.
Suleymanov said over 500,000 Azerbaijanis were massacred by Armenian thugs during the tragic events at the early 20th century.
Later on, the diplomat visited the Heydar Aliyev Lyceum in Igdir together with Rafiq Rustamov, coordinator of the consulate’s branch in this city to meet with the teaching staff and students of the school.
