E-mail Print PDF

The Court of Argentina characterized the events of 1915 as "genocide", APA reported quoting CNN Turk.

Granddaughter of one Armenian who moved from Anatolia to Argentina during the First World War, Louise Hayrabetyan 10 years ago applied to the court against Turkey. In the decision of the court the events of 1915 characterized as "genocide"

In a court decision states that "power of the Ottoman Empire between 1915-1923 years killed half a million Armenian and have committed genocide".

This decision does not represent any claims in respect of modern Turkey. However, the decision of the court of Argentina can be used as an argument to the Armenian organizations in international organizations and forums, as well as creates conditions for the extension of similar lawsuits.

It is expected that the decision of the court will meet Argentine severe reaction of Turkey.
