Armenian-Turkish Business Council Plans To Establish Consultation Department

E-mail Print PDF

Armenians and Turks do business without a contract between the states.

The Turkish-Armenian Business Development Council (TABDC) is planning to establish a department of consultation services for Armenian and Turkish businessmen willing to do business despite closed border.

“There are people who desire to establish a business in Turkey or vice versa. We want to help them from A to Z. And what are they going to do if there is a problem? We are seeking ways to address it,” the newspaper quotes Noyan Soyak, TABDC co-chairman.

He also said that Armenians and Turks do business without a contract between the states but even if there in one it says disputes should be solved either in Turkish or Armenian courts. Soyak considers this point does not help find a solution as there are no diplomatic relations between the states.

International law expert Sylvia Tiryaki suggested a mechanism of arbitration in the form of an arbitration court to the TABDC to address conflicts between businesspeople from both countries, the newspaper writes. She also noted that judges could be well-respected people from both communities.
