E-mail Print PDF

“The members of PACE Sub-Committee on Nagorno-Karabakh will determine themselves meeting’s date and issue that will be discussed”, APA reports. President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Mevlut Cavusoglu told the journalists.

He reminded about appointment of head and members of the sub-committee: “Our aim was to set up this committee, and we did it.” M. Cavusoglu also expressed his attitude to Armenian side’s statement regarding avoidance of participation in Sub-committee’s meeting:

“As PACE, our task is to support the solution of this conflict. The OSCE Minsk Group keeps on working on this issue. Our goal is not to interfere in it. Both parties must trust each other. Sub-committee on Nagorno-Karabakh was set up with good intentions. Establishment of this committee is PACE decision. The assembly members should also observe it and attend the meetings. The Armenian side will make decision on meeting attendance itself. We can’t make any decision on this issue.”

Answering the question on Armenians’ intention to open the international airport in Khankendi and Armenia’s plan to organize the flights to this airport, M. Cavusoglu said that PACE had the resolutions condemning occupation of Azerbaijani lands by Armenia: “On this issue our position is clear remains unchanged”. “The Azerbaijani side can raise this issue in the next session of PACE, if it wishes.”
