Mikhail Gousman: The Occupied Lands Of Azerbaijan Must Be Liberated Without Pre-Conditions

“Nagorno Karabakh conflict can not remain unresolved, because the idea of justice demands the liberation of the occupied Azerbaijani lands. I think these lands must be liberated without pre-conditions”, said Deputy Director General of the Russian ITAR-TASS agency Mikhail Gousman, APA reports.

He said the issue of the status of Nagorno Karabakh could be discussed. “Nagorno Karabakh can be granted with the status of large autonomy within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. The settlement of the conflict depends on the presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia, but other sides can be only mediators. I think main discussions on this issue should be held between the presidents of the two countries, but others can assist this process using their influence, for example OSCE Minsk Group. Russia is also working to assist the process. I know what serious efforts Russian President Dmitry Medvedev makes for the solution of this problem. But again, the main negotiations can be conducted first between the conflicting sides”.
