Turkey-Armenia Border May Remain Closed For 80 Years - Envoy

E-mail Print PDF

'Turkey-Armenia border has been closed for 18 years, but it may remain closed for 80 years.

We want justice, release of the occupied territories,' Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkey to Azerbaijan Hulusi Kilic said.

Ambassador said the states of the world must see the injustice in the region.

'The UN passed four resolutions on the occupied Azerbaijani territories. They must be implemented. Don’t those who are exerting pressure on Turkey saying “open the border” see these resolutions? Turkey closed the borders because of the occupation of Azerbaijani territories. This cause must be eliminated first of all. The borders will not be opened, unless the occupation ends.

Turks will always support Azerbaijan. We must unite our strength. Even if we have any problem, we must talk sincerely and solve it. There can be a problem between brothers and they must be solved through talks,' he said.

According to Ambassador, if the US loses Turkey, it will also lose Azerbaijan. 'Washington must know it. Therefore, we must be together,' he said.

He said Turkey always supported Azerbaijan and further would continue its support.

Hulusi also said Barack Obama wouldn’t attach importance to the falsehoods.

'I don’t expect that the US President will use the word “genocide” in his traditional April 24 message, because the US President is a man of wisdom', Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Hulusi Kilic told journalists.
