White House Administration Rejects Armenians' Appeal

E-mail Print PDF

The Armenian diaspora of the United States has sent a letter to the President of the United States Barak Obama to visit an "Armenian genocide" monument in Montebello.

However the White House's officials rejected the request of the Armenians pleading the President's busy schedule.

In response, over 1,500 Armenian-American activists flooded the streets of Culver City, near Los Angeles in California, on Thursday to protest U.S. President Barack Obama's "failure to honor his pledge to recognize the Armenian genocide". The protest, which took place in front of Obama's campaign fundraiser at the Sony Picture Studios, was organized by the Armenian Genocide Community Task Force.

Turkey warns any formal recognition of the Armenian deaths as "genocide" by the U.S. administration or by Congress will worsen U.S.-Turkish relations in a major way.
