Baku yesterday hosted a roundtable to mull joint activities of Azerbaijan and Turkey to expose the lies about "Armenian genocide". The political parties’ leaders, Azerbaijani MPs, scientists, representatives of the diplomatic missions attended the discussion.

Speaking at the event, Ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) Deputy Chairman and Executive Secretary Ali Ahmedov said the Turkey- Azerbaijan fraternal relations and the two countries’ efforts will contribute to expose the lies such as the" Armenian genocide".

"We must rid the world community from such a falsification of history as the" Armenian genocide". Azerbaijanis and Turks should further combine their efforts in this direction," Ahmedov said.

Armenia and the Armenian lobby claim that the predecessor of Turkey - the Ottoman Empire -- had committed the 1915 genocide against the Armenians living in Anadolu. The Armenians, imposing the recognition of this event in the world, achieved recognition of the "Armenian genocide" by some countries’ parliaments, by strengthening the propaganda of the so-called "genocide" abroad.

Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Hulusi Kilic voiced regret that several world countries still do not know the geographical location of Turkey and Azerbaijan, but discuss "the Armenian genocide" in their parliaments.

"The real genocide has been committed against us throughout the last century," Kilic said.

Azerbaijani Parliamentary Deputy Speaker Bahar Muradova believes if Turkey and Azerbaijan have common national interests, then no disagreement can be in any matter.
"Our activities to expose the lies directed against the Turkic world must take an even greater extent," Muradova said.

Muradova said Armenians are trying to oppose the Turks to each other throughout the history of their residence in the Caucasus. "Today, the force of truth and strength of the Turkic unity should stand against Armenian lies," she stressed.

Parliamentary Human Rights Committee Chairperson Rabiyat Aslanova said Azerbaijan has been fighting against the Armenian propaganda machine for just 20 years.
"During this time we have achieved some successes, but we face many challenges, one of which is Armenians’ intentions to harm the Turkic unity," she said.

Aslanova said not only politicians of Azerbaijan and Turkey, but also the two countries’ scholars should continue to work together to identify the facts of the genocide committed by Armenians. "The youth must take a proactive stance in this," she stressed.
