Armed Confrontation Not To Resolve Karabakh Conflict – EU Commissioner

An armed confrontation cannot pave way for settling the conflict in Nagorno Karabakh, an EU official has said. Speaking at a news conference in Yerevan after a meeting with Armenia's foreign minister, EU Commissioner for Enlargments and Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule addressed prospects the Nagorno Karabakh conflict settlement.

He said neighborhood cannot be safe unless protracted conflicts find a peaceful solution under the principles of international law (territorial integrity, peoples' right to self determination and non-use of force).

The EU official said the meetings between parties demonstrate a progress and stressed the importance of "reflecting them in rhetoric."
