Turkey’s Defense Minister has spoken critical of UN for inaction in conflicts settlement.

Armenia continues occupation of 20% of Azerbaijani lands, the problem between Georgia and Russia remains unsettled, unrest in Syria, Libya and Iraq go on - it all obliging Turkey to respond to these challenges.

Turkey’s Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul made the statement during the meeting of the ruling Party of Justice and Development in Antalya ahead of elections.

He was critical of international organizations, primarily, UN for inaction in addressing these conflicts.

“We want peace in our region and, of course, we cannot stay indifferent to all these problems”, the minister said.

Gonul also noted that Turkey is against raising tensions around Iran.

“Iran is our neighbor. We have a long border with this country and any tension in Iran will affect us. For this reason, we will further do much to ensure peaceful solution to the Iranian problem”, he said.
