The Turkish opposition Republican People's Party stated that their position regarding 1915 incidents is clear and that they are against terming 1915 incidents as “genocide”, Tert.am reported.

"We have our own position on the issue. We are aware that what happened were tragic events, but both sides experienced pain. We are against terming those events 'genocide'. It's up to historians to consider the matter. If their discussions unveil new facts and they reach a consensus, we'll admit that," the vice chair of the Turkish opposition party, Osman Koruturk told reporters in Istanbul.

It came after several representative of Turkey's biggest opposition party visited the Armenian Patriarchate in Turkey's biggest city.

According to the Turkish news website Beyazgazete, the delegation headed by the party's vice-chair had an hour-long meeting with Patriarchal vicar Aram Ateshyan.
