Armenian people are not ready for compromises, former co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group Kerry Kovano.
According to Turkish mass media, while speaking at a conference at the Uludag university of Turkish Bursa on "Security in the South Caucasus: Azerbaijani-Turkish relations", the former co-chair of the Minsk Group said this was the reason of failure of his mediation efforts.As for Turkey's role in settling problems in the South Caucasus, he said this country has a great advantage in this issue:
"By using its relations with Azerbaijan, Turkey will be able to play an important role in solving Caucasus problems. We have witnessed that the active role of Turkey and Azerbaijan made such fantastic projects as Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and Baku-Tbilisi-Kars a reality. For this reason I believe in peace in the region. Merely, Turkey should realize the slogan of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk: "Peace at home means peace in the world" and in the Caucasus
The military budget of Azerbaijan hits $3.5bn a year and this figure overtops the whole state budget of Armenia and such huge funds could be used for peaceful goals in the region".
