US President Barack Obama has nominated John A. Heffern for the post of US ambassador to Armenia.
John Heffern is at present the deputy permanent representative at the US Mission to NATO and has served in different posts in Malaysia, Japan, China and Indonesia, the White House reported.
Marie L. Yovanovitch will complete her three-year mission as US ambassador to Armenia in June 2011.
She will return to Washington and take up the post of deputy assistant secretary of state for Northern and Central Europe.
