“At First Stage Armenian Troops Must Withdraw From Agdam, Fuzuli”

E-mail Print PDF

Azerbaijan wants withdrawal of Armenian troops from occupied Agdam and Fuzuli districts at the first stage and from other areas at later stages.

The statement came from Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.

He noted that the issue of withdrawal of snipers from the contact line should be considered in the context of withdrawal of Armenian troops from occupied areas.

“Armenians request to remove snipers. These words cause laughter. Snipers did not come on their own to remove them. The main issue is the presence of Armenian forces in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan,” the foreign minister noted.

“We must achieve withdrawal of Armenian troops based on a plan, backed by a specific timetable. Therefore, we hold discussions. We will either conclude a peace agreement or solve the conflict step by step. In the first stage, of course, the Armenian troops should withdraw from the occupied territories.

From what districts we should start withdrawing troops - Agdam, Fuzuli or Zangilan? Most likely, we should begin from Agdam and Fuzuli districts. This is our position. According to another version, Armenians should leave five occupied district at the same time. In other words, there are many coordinated points,” Mammadyarov added.
