Sahin: Parliaments Should Not Assume Role Of History Writers

Turkish Parliament Speaker commented on Sweden’s adoption of Armenian bill after meeting with his Swedish colleague in Ankara, News.am reported. Mehmet Sahin said that adoption of the bill recognizing 1915 incidents as “genocide” was an unfortunate development, Turkish Anatolia news agency reported.

The Turkish Speaker noted that parliaments should not undertake a role of history writers, adding that such matters as the events of 1915 should be examined by historians.

Swedish Riksdag adopted a resolution on so called Armenian Genocide on March 11, 2010 .
