Istanbul District Governor Receives Armenian Patriarchate's Award

The Armenian Patriarchate of Istanbul has awarded a special medal to the governor of Shishli district, Mustafa Sarigul.

The first ever Muslim to get such honor, the Turkish governor received his award in the frameworks of celebrations dedicated to the 550th anniversary of the patriarchate.

The award ceremony was held in St Mary Church of Gumgapy. A vicar of the Armenian Patriarchate, Archbishop Aram Ateshyan handed a letter of acknowledgement and a medal to the governor for his services to the Armenian community.
