The Azerbaijani public expects Kazan meeting to give a new impulse for progress in Karabakh issue, said Ramiz Mehdiyev.

The session of the steering council on preparation for the Baku International Humanitarian forum with participation of heads of presidential administrations of Azerbaijan Ramiz Mehdiyev and Russia Sergey Narishkin has ended in Moscow.

As for expectation from the upcoming 25 June meeting of presidents of Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia in Kazan, Ramiz Mehdiyev said that during the meeting of the three presidents, the sides will also discuss issues of Nagorno Karabakh and it is now difficult to say something special regarding expectations.

'Anyway, we have great expectations. We do hope that this meeting will promote this issue, the issue of Nagorno Karabakh. Azerbaijan’s position in this sense is known, Mr.President Ilham Aliyev has repeatedly voiced it. It is the territorial integrity and high autonomy for Nagorno Karabakh. And the issues will be discussed in this sense. It is now difficult to predict results of the meeting, but, anyway, the Azerbaijani public expects this meeting to give a new impulse for progress in this issue', Mehdiyev said, reported AzerTAj.

As for what is the specific feature of the humanitarian forum, Mehdiyev said the uniqueness of this forum is that it is the first forum of this kind.

'First of all, it is an international forum. Second, we must also especially single out this factor, it is held at the initiative of the two presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan. The two states have assumed the responsibility for holding such an international forum and this is its uniqueness and also because before our two presidents no one has ever put this global problem of humanitarian interaction to the global agenda', he said.
