One of the prominent representatives of Turkish American Community, Ali Cinar stated that pro-Armenian Congressmen Adam Schiff (CA), Ed Royce (CA), Robert Dold (Illionis) and Frank Pallone (NJ) are getting prepared to introduce another bill that recognizes 1915 incidents in Ottoman Empire as a “genocide”.
Stressing that pro-Armenian congressmen are seeking support in the US Congress, Cinar said that they are already distributing letters in the House of Representatives which claim 1,5 million Armenians were massacred. “The letters also claim that there are several reports in the US General Directorate of State Archives supporting Armenian genocide allegations and that Turks are forbidden even to use the word “genocide”. The letter also calls US Congress and US Government to recognize so called Armenian genocide,” Cinar said.
Calling Turkish Americans to contact with their representatives to urge them to not to support such a resolution that may come on the agenda of the Congress soon, Cinar said, “Instead of making last minute moves, we now have an opportunity to keep the resolution out of the agenda.”
