Turkish State Minister & Chief Negotiator for EU talks Egemen Bagis has said regarding the relations between Turkey and Armenia that the two parties had the chance to work together in order to prevent people, nations and countries from suffering more in the future.

Bagis received a delegation of Turkish, Armenian and U.S. journalists in Ankara on Tuesday.

Regarding 1915 incidents, Bagis said that both Turkish and Armenian peoples had suffered in those years, however, the history could not be changed, adding that the two parties still had the chance to work together.

Noting that Armenian President Serzh Sargsian and Turkish President Abdullah Gul had taken brave steps, Bagis said that it was necessary to pursue the process.

Bagis said that territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was a sensitive issue for Turkey, adding that the problems between Azerbaijan and Armenia could not be avoided.

Bagis said that Turkey wanted "zero problem" with its neighbors, adding that Turkey also wanted its neighbors to have "zero problem" with their own neighbors too.

We want permanent solution between Armenia and Azerbaijan, said Bagis, adding that if they reached a solution, many opportunities would rise in the region and it would be to the interest of all countries.

Asked when the border between Turkey and Armenia could be opened, Bagis said that he thought it would be opened one day after Armenia and Azerbaijan shook hands.
