Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan accused Turkey in breaking of normalization process with this country.

APA reported that, in his speech at PACE’s plenary meeting Sargsyan said that the process towards the normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia started 2 years ago: “At present moment these relations are at a deadlock. Turkey is in such position that it renders the ratification of the signed protocols impossible. Having faced the wall of disappointment and mistrust, I cannot predict when the window of opportunity will reopen”.

“It Will Be Very Difficult To Prepare The Armenian Citizens And Nagorno Karabakh’s Population To Compromises”

Speaking about Armenia’s domestic policy, Sargsyan tried to justify March 2008 incidents and said that Armenia was going with a democratic way. The Armenian president spoke about his country’s integration into the European institutions and said that the problems the country faced were created because of two neighboring countries. Touching the relations with the neighboring countries, Sargsyan said that they wanted to create normal relations with these countries, desired the settlement of existing problems as well as expressed hope for the Council of Europe’s assistance in the fair settlement of this issue.

Then the Armenian president accused Azerbaijan in racism and xenophobia. He said that there was a strong armenianphobia in Azerbaijan: “We understand that the root of our problems is Nagorno Karabakh conflict and I hope that this conflict will be settled in the nearest future. Russian, Armenian and Azerbaijani presidents will hold a meeting in two days. The OSCE Minsk Group could do best towards finding the main settlement ways based on the basic principles. The question is about the mutual compromises. It will be very difficult to prepare the Armenian population in Armenia as well Nagorno Karabakh’s population to the compromises which can be made by us, because there is a very strong racism against Armenian population and armenianphobia in Azerbaijan”. Saying that Karabakh was a part of the Europe, Sargsyan said that its population was the Europe’s citizens. He recalled the Council of Europe to create straight relations with Armenian population of Nagorno Karabakh.
