Armenians terminate Azerbaijani cultural heritage in both the occupied lands and inside Armenia renaming Azerbaijani geographical names in Armenia.
The statement came from chairman of the State Committee for Working with Religious Structures Hidayat Orujev during the conference “Traditions of tolerance and interreligious dialogue in Azerbaijan”.
“Armenian monuments, Armenian church in the center of Baku are protected by Azerbaijani state. All the same, Armenia terminate Azerbaijani cultural heritage in our lands occupied by them and also rename Azerbaijani geographical names inside Armenia”, Orujev said.As an example, he listed the situation with Albanian monuments, which reflect an entire epoch in the history of Azerbaijani people. Armenians have turned them into the monuments of Gregorian church, Orujev said.
The members of Christian Group of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, who are on a visit to Azerbaijan, visited the Armenian church in Baku.
The statement came from member of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE, MP Elkhan Suleymanov.
He said that besides him, the guests were accompanied by the representatives of civil societies functioning in Azerbaijan.
