Over 460 kinds of wild plants and thousands of trees aged 1,000-1,200 were destroyed in these areas.

Pasture, hay field and green areas as well as forests with a total area of 100,000 hectares have been destroyed in occupied lands of Azerbaijan through arsons.

The remarks came from Amil Seyfiyev, senior consultant at the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry and coordinator of center at the Ministry studying detrimental impact on environment in Azerbaijan’s occupied lands.

This has damaged the fertile soil and land erosion has caused migration of savages, Seyfiyev said. Armenians are destroying natural resources of Azerbaijan on purpose, he noted.

'The Armenians committed the largest-scale arsons in 2006 destroying 90,000 hectares of forests in Karabakh. Though the scale of arsons reduced as a result of pressure on Armenia after Azerbaijan raised this issue with international community, the fire still covers over 1,500 hectares of land a year.'

Over 460 kinds of wild plants and thousands of trees aged 1,000-1,200 were destroyed in these areas, Seyfiyev noted.

'Sometimes these fires spread to the non-occupied part of Azerbaijani lands and deals a huge blow to farming. The fire set to areas near the frontline in Tartar District covered 30 hectares area. It caused strong damage to environment in the area including not occupied lands of Azerbaijan.'
