Armenia must recognize the principle of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
Armenian public figure, chairman of the Caucasus Center of Peacekeeping Initiatives Georgi Vanyan has described his vision of the resolution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict and peacekeeping in the region.
'All possible cosmetic events and imitational processes to distract attention over the two decades have reached their apogee completely exhausting its resource of ‘maintaining the security region’, turning into a farce which has become a personal tragedy of every human being, regardless of whether he is the participant of this farce or just watching it.
Today the only way to solve the conflict can be the 180 degree turn in the strategic approaches of the parties, primarily, Armenia’s review of its stance. The starting signal and cardinal steps must be taken by the Armenian side which bears responsibility for the start of war under the Kremlin’s dictation bearing the burden of the so-called victory in the war, repaid by the looting trophies.
The basis for the new process in the resolution of the conflict must be that Armenia must recognize the principle of territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, return the occupied lands to the jurisdiction of Azerbaijan. After this, Azerbaijan and Armenia will be able to guarantee the security of those who live in the territory of the former Nagorno Karabakh Autonomous Oblast and guarantee the security of all displaced persons and refugees who will want to return to their native lands', he says.
