E-mail Print PDF

An Armenian church was re-opened on Sunday to worship after being closed for nine years in Iskenderun town of the southern province of Hatay.

Turkish Armenian Patriarchate appointed Priest Avedis Tabashyan to Karasun Manuk Armenian Church in Iskenderun.

"We are living in peace and order and tolerance in Turkey," Tabashyan said during the opening service.

The former priest of the church, Sarkis Serup Bilyan died in 2002, and the church was closed to worship since then.

The church was built in 1872.
