Pro-Armenian Candidate Wins Pre-Election Campaign Poll In US

E-mail Print PDF

Pro-Armenian U.S. presidential candidate Michele Bachmann won pre-election campaign poll in the state of Iowa on Saturday, News.am reported.

A total of 28.5% of respondents voted for Congresswoman Bachmann, the second is Congressman Ron Paul.

The Ames Straw Poll in Iowa is an important test in the presidential race ahead of the main primaries scheduled for next February.

Michele Bachmann repeatedly voiced her support for the Armenian resolution in Congress. Since 2006 she has co-sponsored the resolution recognizing so called Armenian Genocide, which calls for U.S. President to describe 1915 incidents as “Armenian genocide”.

In 2009 Bachmann also expressed her agreement with the document calling on U.S. President to make the recognition of the “Armenian Genocide” official policy and ensure appropriate attitude to the issue in U.S. foreign policy, RFE/RL reported.

The presidential elections will be held in U.S. in November 2012.
