ARMENIA CHANGES ITS POSITION CONCERNING "ARMENIAN GENOCIDE", SAYS ARMENIAN FM Print E-mail
Wednesday, 26 November 2008

“Armenia’s position has changed and Yerevan normally thinks about Turkey’s proposal to establish a friendly commission of both countries, which will investigate ‘Armenian genocide’ on the base of historical facts,” Nalbandyan said. The Ministry said that he is optimistic on a future settlement of all problems between the sides. Discussions on this matter should be continued, he stressed.

Armenia claims that the Ottoman empire, precursor of the Turkish Republic, realized ‘Armenian genocide’ in 1915. Armenia and Armenian lobby, who is seeking to achieve recognition of ‘genocide’ in the world, is holding anti-Turkish campaign all over the world.

So far, Yerevan has rejected a proposal of Ankara to establish a friendly Turkish-Armenian commission to investigate ‘Armenian genocide’ on the base of historical facts. Armenia states that ‘Armenian genocide’ has a place in the history and there is no necessity to hold investigations.
