Armenian diaspora in U.S. started to make preparations to press elected President of U.S. Barack Obama to make him to hold his promises that he gave before Presidential elections. According to Turkish journal Hurriyet, Armenian diaspora’s first goal to make President elect Barack Obama to use term genocide in his speech that he will make on 24 April. It is expected for Armenian bill to be brought to Senate in February. But real diplomacy do not works as it was promised in elections. Although Armenian diaspora struggles for the issue so much, experts do not think that Obama, who won’t use the term genocide for 1915 events neither let the Armenian bill to pass form Senate. Major reasons for that are, Obama’s promises about withdrawing from Iraq and shifting those American troops to Afghanistan. U.S. administration will need Turkey in any case and it is thought that U.S. wouldn’t risk relations with Turkey over the desires of Armenian diaspora. Other than that it is expected that the reconciliation process between Turkey and Armenia will make Obama to think about making such step which would affect the normalization of Turkish Armenian relations negatively. Another relaxing development for Turkey is selection of Hillary Clinton for the seat of Foreign Ministry. |
