President of Higher Education Board (YOK) Yusuf Ziya Ozcan joined discussions and said, “if universities make such proposal we can evaluate the issue and do what is necessary”.

On the other hand Higher Education Board supported normalization process between Turkey and Armenia with a gesture. Higher Education Board approved establishment of department of Armenian philology within Foreign Languages Majors of Trakya University. The student quota for department is arranged as 20, which will start education next year.

An academic from Trakya University said, “Our policy is “learn the language of your neighbour first”. Our purpose is to settle neighbourly relations. In this manner we decided to go on with Armenian language. If Archives are opened by time, then Turkey will have people who knows Armenian language well”.
